Gorumara
National Park

Gorumara National Park is an important national park of North Bengal. It is situated just at the foothills of Eastern Himalaya in Terai region, on the flood plains in Murti, Raidak. Jaldhaka a Tributary of Brahmaputra flows just beside the National Park. Gorumara has mixed vegetation of forest & grassland. It is famous for its good population of One Horned Indian Rhino. Ministry of Environment and Forest has declared Gorumara as the best among the protected areas in India for the year 2009. Gorumara was declared a reserve forest in 1895. In 1949 it was given a status of a wild life sanctuary. Later on Gorumara was declared as National Park in 1994.

Buxa
Tiger Reserve

Buxa Tiger Reserve (BTR) lies in Alipurduar sub-division of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. National Highway No.31 C roughly runs along its southern boundary. It is the eastern most extension of extreme bio-diverse North-East India & represents highly endemic Indo-Malayan region. The fragile "Terai Eco-System" constitutes a part of this Reserve. Manas National Park lies on east of BTR. BTR, thus, serves as international corridor for elephant migration between India and Bhutan. The reserve encompasses as many as eight forest types.

Suntalekhola

It is a quaint village with picaresque beauty—the most eye-catching tourist destination in North Bengal. From here, you can visit numerous places like Rocky Island, Samsing, Jhalong, Bindu. It has forest stay facilities which are adventurous, and at the same time, you will feel embraced by mother nature. Plenty of homestays are there in the village that overlooks the beautiful valley. From this valley, the path of the Neora river and Murti River can be seen. People also experience the excitement of living amid the mountains and forest beside the everflowing Suntaley Khola (Suntaley Stream).

Chapramari
Wildlife Forest

The Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is located 12 kms away from The Riverwood Forest Retreat-Dooars. The forest is spread across 9.6 sq.km and has the magnificent Kanchenjunga mountain range and the Himalayas as its backdrop. The Sanctuary derives its name from the word ‘Chapra‘ which stands for a variety of small fishes found in West Bengal, and ‘Mari‘ which means ‘in abundance’. In 1895, the area was declared as a National Reserve Forest under the Indian Forest Act. It came to be the Chapramari Wildlife Reserve in 1939 and was given the status of a National Wildlife Sanctuary by the Government of India in 1998.

Lava
Lolaygaon

Hidden amidst misty clouds, the tiny hamlet of Lava is often considered the gateway of the pristine Neora Valley National Park. Located about 30 kilometres from Kalimpong and nestled in virgin pine forests, Lava is one of the few places in West Bengal to receive snowfall. From monasteries to waterfalls, from mesmerising views of Kanchenjunga to canopied hanging bridges, from rare red pandas to radiant rhododendrons, there is a lot waiting to be explored in and around Lava.

Jaldapara
Wildlife Sanctuary

aldapara national park has got great biodiversity and ecological significance as it forms the gene pool reserve for great one Horned Rhinoceros outside Assam and Nepal. The Rhino population in Jaldapara national park is a remnant of the erstwhile population inhabiting Indo-Gangetic plains which got geographically isolated due to fragmentation of habitat. As of now Jaldapara forms second largest home for critically endangered Great one-horned Rhinoceros. In addition, Jaldapara harbours herds of Bison, Hispid hare, Hog deer, Sambar and Asian elephants etc.
